Long-Range Planning
In 2000, The Long-Range Planning Committee created three task forces to address the following issues: Member Services, Program, and Mission. In addition, the Finance Panel addressed several key issues of interest to Long-Range Planning.
Member Services
The Member Services Task Force met to discuss ways to improve services to members and made the following recommendations to the Long-Range Planning Committee:
- The Section should not participate in continuing education courses offered by National ACS.
- The Section should offer unemployed members seminars on "Coping with Job Loss" and "Searching for a New Position," as well as resume reviews and mock interviews.
- The Section should inform members of retraining or continuing education courses offered by local educational institutions.
- The Section should offer unemployed members scholarships to attend retraining courses and seminars offered by local educational institutions.
- The Section should offer continuing education seminars once a week.
- The Professional Relations Committee should establish a mentoring program.
- The Employment Committee should solicit job listings from local employers.
- The Section web site should have a user’s group chat room.
The Long-Range Planning Committee accepted the report of the Member Services Task Force.
Ideas from the report were submitted to the following committees: Employment, Professional Relations, Continuing Education.
