New Activities1. Revision of Section By-LawsSharon J. Northup The Chicago Section Board of Directors in 2000 undertook the momentous task of revising its bylaws. The board appointed a bylaws subcommittee to review the bylaws line by line and propose a revision reflecting recommendations made over the past year by the board, as well as changes in common practice that have occurred over the past several years. The subcommittee brought forth its proposed revision for consideration at the October 2000 Board meeting, and over the course of the next three meetings, the Board reviewed each of the proposed changes. Additional revisions will occur in early 2001, with a final version due for final approval shortly thereafter. The revised document will more accurately reflect the activities of the Section, bring the Section into compliance with National ACS policy, and facilitate the Section’s planned transition to a fiscal year that runs from January through December, rather than the current July through June year. Strategic Thrusts: This activity supports all of the strategic thrusts in that it lays the groundwork for smooth operation of Section activities. |
